A useful fit for

A source-supported option to investigate when an existing mattress needs a softer surface, a listed U.S. size fits, and the mattress is no deeper than the cover's 13-inch limit.

The main tradeoff

The three-inch layer adds bed height; the manufacturer describes toppers as softening rather than firming, the foam core cannot be washed, and direct Tempur-Pedic purchases do not include a comfort-return trial.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can this topper make an overly soft mattress feel firmer?

No verified firming route is documented for this model. Tempur-Pedic says its toppers are designed to soften and that it does not offer a firm topper, so this is a poor match if you need more firmness from the surface.

Will the cover fit over my mattress?

The product page states a 13-inch maximum for the stretch skirt but does not state a lower mattress-depth edge. That one-sided limit does not establish a complete numeric range for a particular measured mattress. Measure the bare mattress and confirm the exact fit with the seller, especially if another layer is already installed.

Can I wash the full topper after a spill?

No. The cover is removable and washable, but Tempur-Pedic says not to wash or dry-clean the TEMPUR-Material core. Follow the current care label and keep moisture away from the foam.

A three-inch Cloud is not the same listing as the older two-inch Cloud

Tempur-Pedic currently shows a TEMPUR-Cloud 3-inch Topper as its own product page, separate from the TEMPUR-Cloud 2-inch Topper on the company's topper directory. That distinction matters more than a shared family name: the reviewed configuration is a nominal three-inch layer of the brand's TEMPUR-Material, with a stretch-skirt cover. The manufacturer says the material is intended to add comfort and personalized support. Those are product claims, not results from an independent comfort, pressure or durability test; none was performed for this assessment.

The 3-inch profile makes this a plausible shortlist entry when an otherwise serviceable mattress feels too firm and the shopper wants a meaningful cushioning layer. Tempur-Pedic's support guidance describes its toppers as a way to soften a sleep surface and says it does not offer a firm topper. That is a useful boundary: this model is not a way to firm up an overly soft bed, and a comfort layer cannot correct a mattress whose support structure has failed. If firmness is the wrong direction, skip this one rather than interpreting the word “support” as a promise that it makes a bed firmer.

The cover fit is a practical spec, not a guarantee that every bed will stay put

The current product page describes a soft-knit, breathable cover with a stretch skirt intended for mattresses up to 13 inches deep. It lists Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King size SKUs. I found no exact width-and-length table for these configurations in the reviewed page, so use the selected size as a starting point, then compare the dimensions in the exact offer against your mattress. A size label alone does not resolve an unusual, short, split, pillow-top or otherwise nonstandard mattress.

Measure the mattress itself at its deepest point before ordering. The 13-inch limit refers to mattress depth, not the combined height of mattress, topper and bedding. As a practical inference from the nominal three-inch profile, the finished bed will sit higher and a fitted sheet has more material to cover. If the mattress is already tall or the fitted sheet barely grips now, check pocket depth and the full layered height rather than assuming the stretch skirt solves the sheet problem. The source describes a skirt; it does not publish a measured slip-resistance result.

Wash the cover; keep moisture away from the foam core

The removable cover is machine-washable. Tempur-Pedic's care guidance recommends cold water with little or no detergent, then flat drying or a low-heat tumble; the product page also cautions against chlorine products and harsh stain removers. The foam core is a different matter: the company says not to wash or dry-clean the TEMPUR-Material. This split routine is manageable if you can remove and refit a bulky cover, but it is not the same as a fully washable topper. A spill that reaches the core cannot be solved by putting the whole item in a washer.

The maker says the topper arrives compressed and can be used immediately, while full expansion may take as long as 48 hours. It also says compressed products must be opened within 30 days of delivery. Keep the box only long enough to check the size and condition; do not leave the topper compressed while deciding whether to set it up.

The return policy changes the buying decision

Tempur-Pedic's support article says its toppers are returnable only when damaged at delivery or when there is a product defect. That is not a comfort trial. This statement concerns a direct Tempur-Pedic purchase; a marketplace seller may have different rules, so read the policy attached to the exact offer before paying. A 10-year limited warranty is listed for toppers, but warranty coverage is not the same thing as an option to return a model that feels wrong.

For that reason, this assessment does not treat the 3-inch Cloud as a low-risk experiment for an uncertain mattress. Confirm that you want a softer surface, check the size and depth limits, and be comfortable with the return terms. The published page describes a breathable and moisture-wicking cover, but I found no comparable temperature measurements for this version. “Cooling” language should not be read as proof that it will keep a particular sleeper cool.

Who should keep it on the shortlist

Consider this configuration if you want a nominal three-inch memory-foam layer, your mattress needs a softer surface rather than firmer support, its size matches one of the six listed U.S. SKUs, and your mattress is no deeper than the cover's stated 13-inch limit. The removable washable cover is a concrete care advantage; the fitted skirt and three-inch height are also things to verify against your bed, not assumptions to skip.

Look elsewhere if you need a firmer feel, a split or custom size, a verified cooling result, or an easy comfort-return window. This is a source-based review of published specifications and policies, not a hands-on trial. The older two-inch Cloud and the Adapt line are visible on the same manufacturer directory but remain separate catalogue entries in this developing library; their cover systems and product details need their own reviews before a fair comparison can be made.
